What is Prolotherapy?

Prolotherapy, a short form for ‘Proliferative Therapy’ is a non-surgical treatment that used body’s own mechanism for healing. It is also known as ‘Regenerative injection therapy’ or ‘non-surgical ligament and tendon reconstruction’.

Prolotherapy involved injecting mild irritant proliferator agents in injured ligaments and tendon areas which induces local inflammation response activated by body’s healing mechanism. This strengthens the joints, ligaments and tendons. Pain is body’s way of telling us that there is some kind of tissue damage. Once the tissue is healed the pain goes away.

Dr. Kishor Vora got interested in Prolotherapy when he was looking for something for his own joint pain. He got trained with ‘The American Osteopathic Association of Prolotherapy Regenerative Medicine’ in 2012 and started his journey into prolotherapy. He also has trained with Hackett Hemwall Foundation. (A foundation started by George Hackett, M.D. who coined the term Prolotherapy and Gustav Hemwall, M.D., the world’s most experienced Prolotherapist.)

There are several different types of proliferants used. Dr. Kishor Vora uses Dextrose and PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) to treat his patients with prolotherapy. Because of his passion for prolotherapy, Dr. Vora has treated several patients and family members with prolotherapy in spite of his busy schedule.
