What is the difference between a Physician Assistant (PA), a Nurse Practitioner (NP) and a Doctor (MD)?
PA stands for Physician Assistant. A PA has several years of post-graduate training in clinical medicine, following a college education. Our PAs are board-certified and take continuing medical education courses every year, just like our physicians do.
NP stands for Nurse Practitioner. An NP first obtains a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and then attends post-graduate training to obtain a Master’s Degree in Nursing. NPs are also board-certified and take continuing medical education courses yearly.
MD stands for Doctor of Medicine and represents the certification that Doctors / Physicians hold to practice medicine.
Owensboro Medical Practice is comprised of many types of providers, so we can offer a broad spectrum of care to our patients.
